mum's the word.

Today is my beautiful mother's birthday. Happy Birthday mum! We have spoilt her rotten, with a fab party on saturday night and a great afternoon out with the girls today. After I finished a presentation at uni, I went out with my mum, nan and aunties to a place called 'the little larder' at New Farm. It was a quirky little spot with great coffee, yummy food and a cool & laid-back atmosphere. Afterwards we ventured over to Paddington for just a little while.

I promised I would put some photos up of the wonderful night everyone had at my aunty's newly renovated home. Here is my promise delivered...

The night was a memorable one, as we celebrated in style with various flavoured macaroons, raspberry & sour cream cake, candles, hollywood style lights, black & white films played on an outdoor screen, and a 'wine menu' chalkboard that dad cleverly put together.

Hope your weekend was as splendid as mine :)

the birthday season.

Today is my beautiful friend Emma's birthday (who is also my boyfriend's sister). This is the package of goodness from both of us that I wrapped up last night. I was very pleased to use my newest purchase - kikki k alphabet stamps!

I have a number of presents to buy in the next few weeks for various family members and best friends. Tomorrow night is my mum's 40th birthday party, so I will try and post some pics of it. It seems to be everyone's birthday coming up soon, including my own! I have started filling out these fantastic invitations that I bought in a San Diego Target earlier this year. Aren't they fab?

in my place...

So, I just finished up one of the best assignments I've ever done, and probably ever will do for uni! This is for my 'placemaking in architecture' subject. The task was to choose a place in the Brisbane CBD or inner suburbs that we consider to be our own 'place.' I chose New Farm Park because it has been a pretty significant place in my life...many memories and special occasions are contained there, not to mention it is a beautiful landscape and great place for a picnic lunch. I took a couple of screenshots of the graphics panels I had to create, which are a collaboration of hand-drawn images and photos. I am pleased because it has given me the opportunity to learn a bit of Adobe InDesign! Although, I still have much to learn...

I quite like all the pretty pictures, do you?

The quote from the second panel is from Peter Pan, who says:

“so come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned. Just think of happy things, and your heart will fly on wings, forever,
in Never Never Land...”

happy snaps.

Greetings! It is quite a cold morning in Brisbane, especially for someone who is sick...boo! I spent the majority of my weekend helping to paint my boyfriend's house with heaps of our other friends/family. It was great fun, but quite exhausting work! It's also freezing cold in that house...

This morning's post contains just a few happy snaps from the past week.

This is my Holga camera. I didn't like the mundane strap that came with it, so I tied some green spotty ribbon and a little knitted rabbit to it. Great handle (and it looks pretty)!

I have been very impressed by this window display in Sportscraft for some time now, so I finally took a photo of it. I love the thick-rope bunting, photos, vintage maps, suitcases and cameras. Inspiration for a bedroom, perhaps? :)

After many years of using my small, now tattered and torn wallet, I finally bought a new one! And isn't it splendid? It's from nook, a little shop in West End full of handmade, eco and indie goodies.

Hope you have a great week :) x

a place of one's own.

With our new house well underway, we've all been pretty excited about what we're going to fill it with. I've been enjoying saving lots of photos as inspiration and food for thought for my new bedroom :) Here's a small portion of my research:

Wishlist: The Anglepoise Giant Lamp.

Sukie Organic Alphabet Cushion.

Awesome Bedhead!

The best coloured Typewriter I've ever seen.

I'll keep you updated on any other extremely blog-worthy items :) x
